Are you at a crossroads in life and looking for more authenticity, greater alignment and peace with who you are?

I’m Lara, a curious multi-hyphenate, currently in a liminal space between who I was and who I am becoming. It’s a space I see women navigate at so many points in their life; adolescence, motherhood, not-motherhood, perimenopause and menopause.

At 42, I’m undergoing a process of change that I don’t fully understand yet. I’m in a space between a motherhood that-could-have-been, and an increasingly closer child-free future, and I’m writing The River to uncover what that means for me. So far, it includes seeking wildness and aliveness in nature, dance and movement, and choosing people, places and things that are more fully aligned with who I feel that I am. It means high emotions and a desire to understand them. It means making mistakes, learning from them and sharing those lessons.

I write about nourishing our unique creativity, career change, connecting and relating more to nature, seeking authenticity, relationships, how to be more present and more.

Why ‘The River’?

My favourite place in the world is a little stretch of the River Cherwell in Oxford (the beautiful place in which I’m dancing in the pic above). When I swim there I feel the most like me; so this newsletter is also a homage to the river; a reminder of the place in which I feel alive and which helps me stay true to who I am.

Whilst I wanted to start this with a fully formed idea, brand and all that jazz, I’ve come to realise that the creation of this newsletter is part of discovering my own authentic interests, purpose and joy, so I’m going to let it flow and see where it ends up.

How does this newsletter work?

As a free subscriber, you will receive a newsletter direct to your inbox every other week on a Tuesday and you can also read it online or in the Substack app.

If you love what you’re reading and listening to, you can get more by upgrading your subscription and becoming a paid subscriber. It costs £5 per month or £45 per year and for that you will receive:

  • A paid-subscriber newsletter every two weeks which is a more personal piece of writing.

  • Invitations to my quarterly group coaching sessions on wellbeing, authenticity and topics that the community want to explore in more detail.

  • Access to all of my posts, voiceovers and creative bits including the full archive.

  • The opportunity to become fully immersed in community of people courageously navigating the strange, liminal spaces of being human.
